Richard has been a leading force in revitalizing his club since coming to the Briar Club in 2003; a family oriented social and recreational club located in the upscale bedroom communities closed to downtown Houston.  He has not only helped the club survive Hurricane Ike in 2008, but he helped point the club in its present strategic direction.  Financial controls have been implemented, Board governance has been made very effective, $8 million dollars in facility improvements have been accomplished, and the results have been one of the most successful clubs in Houston.  As we know the way to achieve success in the club world is through the member’s stomach.  The club’s annual dining sales have jumped by 36% to just under 3$ million.  In this regard, the Briar Club’s dining program has achieved great success. 

 

Richard is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout and is a Certified Club Manager and a member of the CMAA Honor Society. He will soon be celebrating 34 years of marriage to his still blushing bride, Sharon who is an Adjunct Professor in Art and Art History at San Jacinto Jr. College; they have two children Quentin a graduate of Columbia College in Chicago now living in Hollywood with his fiancé pursuing a career in cinematography and Evelyn who recently achieved her Masters degree in Art Therapy from Mt Mary College in Milwaukee and now living outside of Atlanta.
